First, those who were afraid were sent home. Then came the final test: the sifting at the water’s edge. Thousands knelt down to drink, losing sight of their surroundings. But 300 men remained upright, lapping water from their hands, eyes on the horizon, alert and prepared.
God chose those 300—not because they were the most numerous, but because they were the most committed.
