Yesterday was a day that did not go at all like I had planned.
Every single one of my appointments either canceled or had to shift times. I always try to leave room in my schedule for God to work—leaving space for Him to redirect things or lead me to unexpected moments where I can be there for someone in need.
Honestly, though, yesterday didn’t feel like a day where God was using me. It just felt like a series of missteps, and as the hours dragged on, the stress started piling up.
Looking Back with Clearer Eyes
It wasn’t until I sat down at the end of the day to reflect that I realized God had been present far more than I noticed. My mindset was the problem: I was so hyper-focused on everything going wrong that I completely missed God at work.
Because of those shifted schedules:

I randomly ran into an old friend I hadn’t seen in a long time.

I stopped at a store to kill time between meetings and picked up a simple surprise for Amy.

I paused to pray through the stress I was feeling.

I had time to step in and help Alex with something he needed.
“God Is Always Working”
A mentor of mine used to say, “God is always working; we are just not always paying attention.” Yesterday, I simply wasn’t paying attention.
Some days are harder than others, and most of the time we won’t fully understand why God allows our plans to get disrupted. But He is always actively at work in the details.
Keep your focus on Him today, and allow Him to shape how you see every unexpected turn in your schedule.
