Thank you to everyone who responded to last week’s devotional, “The Jesus That I Know.”
This week, I wanted to pass along and share a few of those personal responses. Here are three reflections we received from readers sharing who Jesus is in their daily lives. (We would still love to hear from others if you’d be willing to share yours as well!)
“He Is Everything I Need and Want”
“The Jesus that I know can be different in different situations. He can rejoice with me when things are going well, He can grieve with me when I am down, and He always knows just what I need. He waits for me when I am not paying attention to Him and is excited to meet with me when I do. I can go to Him anytime, anyplace, and He is there.
He guides me, He protects me, He disciplines me, and He will never let me down. If I walk away from Him, He will not walk away from me—He waits with open arms for me to come back. He has spared my life here on earth, and He saved my life for eternity by dying on the cross for my sins. I could never repay Him; I can only give my life in service to Him.
I share Him with others because He is the one who can change any circumstance. He is who and what people truly need. I have seen Him do amazing things, and I have seen Him change lives that others thought were too far gone. I trust Him with my life, my wife’s life, and my kids’ lives as well. He is everything I need and want. He is my Lord and Savior. He is my Father. He is my friend and He loves me unconditionally!”
“He Knows Me Better Than I Know Myself”
“The Jesus that I know is a thought that comes to my mind when I have been unkind. The Jesus that I know is my Jesus—my personal friend who knows me much better than I know myself.
The Jesus that I know is very encouraging, funny, empathetic, and kind. My Jesus loves honest, deep, loud, upset, gut-wrenching conversations and doesn’t get upset or angry with me. Most of the time, Jesus is quiet, and that’s when the thoughts in my mind flow the most.
Jesus is in my thoughts, in my mind, in my head to ask me questions that help me think about my actions, my words, and my own thoughts. Jesus is in my head and talks to me without being audible or visible. Jesus knows my name, who I am, and what I do—and Jesus still loves me!”
“Shepherd, Redeemer, Friend”
“Shepherd, Friend, Lord, Master, Savior, Redeemer, All-Knowing, Shows the world Grace.”
